Standards & Information

Acceptable customer equipment:

  • All customer equipment must fit within the NetRiver standard APC Netshelter rack. If the customer is using less than a full rack, all equipment must be rack mounted.
  • Customer equipment in shared space must conform to industry standards and best practices.
  • All rack mounted equipment must be secured to the rack using either the appropriate rails, or mounting flanges.
  • NetRiver supplies APC Netshelter racks with a square mounting hole. For equipment that does not use the square hole mounting, Netriver will provide APC cage nuts and M6x16 Phillips slot screws.

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Customers may ship equipment to NetRiver – 4200 194th St. SW, Suite 100, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
  • Shipments should reference both a customer name, and a NetRiver support ticket number.
  • NetRiver will receive and store customer equipment for up to two weeks. If longer storage is needed, prior arrangements should be made.

Boxes and packaging:

  • Customers may use one of the staging areas for unpacking and preparation of equipment.
  • Whenever possible, equipment should be removed from packing in the staging areas.
  • NetRiver staff will handle disposal of all packing materials.
  • No cardboard or combustibles materials may be stored inside rack enclosure.

Equipment handling:

  • All equipment must be rack-mountable or attached to a rack shelf (provided by Customer).
  • NetRiver technical staff will assist with racking of equipment and must be present for any shared rack installations or changes.
  • If assistance is required, arrangements should be scheduled prior to setup date.
  • NetRiver will supply carts for transporting equipment from the staging area to the customer rack.
  • Rails should be secured to rack prior to installing the servers. If servers are to be secured directly to the rack without rails, it is required that two people are present for equipment handling.
  • All connections in shared rack space, both the plugging in and unplugging of (including power, network, and crash cart) will be handled directly by NetRiver technicians.

Cable Management and peripherals:

  • All power and network cables should be neatly dressed in the rack as to not impede airflow.
  • Brackets for securing power cables to PDUs are available upon request.
  • Power plugs must not impede use of adjacent sockets in shared racks.
  • Use of a Y-splitter, power strip, or other multi-outlet device is prohibited.
  • Some cables and cable management are available to customers for a nominal fee.

Facility Accessibility Overview

  • When entering from the west main door, the card reader is just to the right of the doors.
  • The bathroom is accessible through the north east exit. To re-enter the data center you will need fingerprint access. If you have forgotten your card, you can exit the building from the bathroom corridor.
